Who Lives in Taryan Towers? How Owners of Ukraine’s Most Expensive Apartments Launder Their Dirty Money

This war is strange. While it keeps taking lives and destroying homes, some people are buying luxury apartments worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in one of the most expensive buildings in Ukraine — Taryan Towers in Kyiv’s Pechersk district. In the past few years, new owners in this complex include Nadiia Orekhovska, Petro Hyrych, Tetyana Kicha, Yevhen Orlov, Larysa Nadeiena, Oksana Petliovana, Illia Brekhin, and Svitlana Hubar. You might wonder — who are these people? And how can they afford such expensive real estate during wartime? That’s what this new investigation from BlackBox OSINT is about.

Taryan Towers is a high-rise complex made up of three towers. Construction started back in 2012 by Pozniakyzhytlobud and Taryan Group. Two towers are already finished. The second one was completed in 2023 — during the full-scale invasion.

The complex is located at 12 Ioanna Pavla II Street, right in the center of Kyiv. It has 574 apartments. Prices range from $200,000 (without renovations) to $1 million (fully furnished). Residents get access to private schools, kindergartens, a luxury mall, and swimming pools.

So who are the people buying luxury homes in the middle of a war?

Apartment №337. How Pensioner Nadiia Orekhovska from a Village Near Kyiv Bought 90 m² in a Luxury Tower

Let’s get acquainted. Nadiia Orekhovska is a 75-year-old pensioner who, until recently, lived in a small apartment in a typical panel building in the town of Kalynivka near Kyiv. In February 2025, she purchased apartment No. 337 in Taryan Towers — a 90.7 square meter unit. The price of such an apartment ranges from ₴12,490,000 (about $302,420) without renovation to ₴28,230,375 ($680,250) fully finished.

Orekhovska doesn’t own any companies, isn’t involved in any business, and there’s no public information about her online. According to Ukraine’s property register, this is her only known asset. A retired woman buying a luxury apartment for tens of millions of hryvnias? Sounds suspicious.

It’s very likely that Nadiia Orekhovska is simply a front — a person used to register expensive real estate in order to legalize money with no official origin. So, whose money is it?

Her husband, 77-year-old Volodymyr Orekhovskyi, is also a pensioner, registered at the same address in Kalynivka. Their daughter, 54-year-old Tetyana Hyrych, has been registered as a sole proprietor since 2009. Her declared business activity is renting out property — either owned or leased.

Orekhovska’s son-in-law, 61-year-old Petro Hyrych, was registered in 2021 in the village of Danylivka, Vasylkivskyi district, Kyiv region. One of his phone numbers appears in GetContact with the tag “Life Hyrych Ukrsibbank,” which may suggest he once worked at Ukrsibbank.

Petro Hyrych is the founder and beneficiary of Promtekhservis LLC, a company that sells agricultural equipment and auto parts. His 34-year-old son, Maksym Hyrych, is listed as the director. The company frequently wins state tenders: in 2022 it received ₴9.3 million, in 2023 — ₴65.4 million, and in 2024 — an impressive ₴157.8 million.

Promtekhservis LLC won government contracts
During the war years, TG Promtekhservis LLC won government contracts totaling ₴235,866,503 ($6,040,115). Source: Opendatabot

The company mainly wins tenders organized by municipal utilities, state institutions under city and village councils across Ukraine, as well as military units. For instance, in the fall of 2024, the company sold a 6×4 truck crane to military unit T0200 for ₴8.6 million, and another to unit T0300 for ₴9.35 million.

The Hyrych family owns several apartments and parking spots in Kyiv, along with four premium-class cars — Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and BMW — each worth between $40,000 and $60,000. In 2024 alone, Petro Hyrych’s sons, Maksym and Andrii, purchased two of those cars, spending a total of $135,000.

Interestingly, Petro Hyrych’s younger son, Andrii, also owns an apartment in Taryan Towers — right next to his grandmother’s. He has unit No. 336, while she owns No. 337. According to official records, Andrii received the apartment as a gift on February 21, 2024. The person who gifted it was his grandfather, Volodymyr Orekhovskyi.

The apartment, which is 90.5 square meters, was valued at ₴3.9 million (about $95,700), which is nearly four times cheaper than the neighboring unit of the same size purchased by Nadiia Orekhovska. Most likely, the grandfather and grandson agreed to report a lower price to reduce the amount of taxes owed.

It’s not hard to imagine just how inflated the prices might be for the equipment and spare parts that TOV “TG Promtekhservis” sells to government bodies and military units — especially when you consider that the Hyrych family managed to acquire two premium-class apartments in Taryan Towers in just one year, 2024, worth over $1 million.

And since these properties weren’t registered directly to members of the Hyrych family but instead to their elderly relatives, the Orekhovskys, it strongly suggests the money didn’t come from official sources. That’s why anti-corruption agencies should seriously look into how pensioners from the small town of Kalynivka could afford some of the most expensive real estate in the country.

Apartment №291. How the Mother of Bribe-Taking Lawyer Andrii Kicha Bought a Taryan Towers Apartment a Year After His Dismissal

In January 2025, Apartment No. 291 in Taryan Towers — 82.3 square meters — was purchased by 68-year-old retiree Tetyana Kicha. She is a former assistant to Andrii Pyshnyi, who used to be an MP and is now the head of the National Bank of Ukraine. Kicha also served as one of the managers of the NGO “Vidchui,” founded by Pyshnyi and Olha Kudinenko. In addition, she was an assistant to Serhii Draiuk, a Member of Parliament from the “People’s Front” party during the 8th convocation.

The apartment she bought ranges in price from $300,000 (without renovation) to $600,000 (fully renovated). It’s hard to believe that a former assistant’s salary could cover such a purchase.

Yes, Tetyana Kicha does run a business. Since October 2021, she has been the founder, beneficiary, and director of TOV “Tatio Consulting,” a company dealing with real estate buying and selling. But according to its financial records, the company has been operating at a loss.

Tetyana Kicha’s husband, Volodymyr Kicha, doesn’t run a business and isn’t a public figure — there’s no information about him online. Their son, however, is a more well-known person.

44-year-old Andrii Kicha is an international-level judge with the Ukrainian Ice Hockey Federation, as well as a practicing lawyer and attorney. He previously held a top management position at Burisma Group and is the founder, beneficiary, and director of TOV “All-Ukrainian Legal Council”. However, this company is also deeply unprofitable: in 2023, it reported a loss of 32 million UAH, despite generating only 1.6 million UAH in revenue.

But Andrii Kicha isn’t known for his role as a hockey judge or his work as a lawyer. In 2020, he became widely known after being detained by NABU along with two others while trying to bribe top officials — then-NABU chief Artem Sytnyk and head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office Nazar Kholodnytskyi.

The bribe was $6 million and was meant to shut down a criminal case against Mykola Zlochevskyi, the former Minister of Ecology of Ukraine.

In 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine sentenced Andrii Kicha to five years in prison. However, under Article 75 of the Criminal Code, the court released him from serving the sentence and gave him a one-year probation period instead.

Two years later, his mother bought an apartment in Taryan Towers worth at least 12.5 million UAH.

Apartment №206. How Driver and Street Seller Yevhen Orlov Helped Someone Launder 12 Million UAH

Yevhen Orlov, originally from Kamianka-Dniprovska in Zaporizhzhia region, worked as a market vendor from 2007 to 2015. His registered business activity at the time was retail trade from market stalls. In the GetContact app, his number appears under nicknames like “Zhenya Driver.” He owns no registered business and holds no corporate shares.

Yet in February 2025, Orlov bought apartment №206 in Taryan Towers. The apartment is 82.3 square meters, and, as previously mentioned, such a unit costs at least 12.5 million UAH if purchased without renovation. Interestingly, the apartment was bought via power of attorney by a man from Zaporizhzhia named Oleksandr Kondratiev. He is listed as the founder, beneficiary, and director of a company called Baks Bir LLC, which is registered as a retailer of beverages in specialized stores. Since its founding in 2018, the company has never submitted financial reports to the state.

So here we have another front person — a driver or market vendor — used to launder a large sum of money with unknown origin by purchasing an apartment in Ukraine’s most high-end residential complex.

How Beauty Salon Owner Larysa Nadeiena Found Over $1 Million to Buy Four Apartments in Taryan Towers

A 62-year-old woman named Larysa Nadiyena, registered in the city of Dnipro, has purchased four apartments in Taryan Towers. She bought the first three — units №303, 304, and 305 — all at once on November 23, 2023. The fourth one, unit №306, she purchased more recently, on February 19, 2025.

The total area of all four apartments is 304.8 square meters — about the size of a large house. Based on market prices, even without renovations, these apartments would have cost her at least $1.15 million.

So who is Larysa Nadiyena? The only public information about her is that she owns a 15.17% share in a company called “Alina,” which operates in the beauty salon business. It’s hard to believe that a small stake in a hair and beauty company could earn enough to buy four luxury apartments in one of the most expensive buildings in Ukraine — especially since the company has never filed any financial reports with the state.

Larysa’s husband, 73-year-old Dmytro Nadiyen, does not appear to own any businesses. The only hint about his background comes from how his phone number is saved in the Getcontact app — as “Dmytro Hryhorovych STO.”

Their son, Oleksii Nadiyen, owns a small 4.17% share in a company called “NVN Dnipro,” which rents out real estate. But this company also shows no official financial activity. Oleksii is also the founder and director of “Alex Group Agro Trading,” a company involved in the wholesale trade of grain, tobacco, seeds, and animal feed. In 2023, the company made a net profit of 29.5 million UAH, and in 2024 — 3.7 million UAH. That’s still far less than what was spent on the apartments.

Oleksii is also linked to another company, “Salon Valentyna LTD,” which is also in the beauty business. However, this company made only 200 UAH profit in 2023 and 400 UAH in 2024. He is also listed as the director of “Telnet Corp,” a company that hasn’t made any profit since 2021.

So, neither Larysa Nadiyena, her husband, nor their son officially have the financial means to buy four luxury apartments in Taryan Towers. The conclusion seems obvious: the apartments were likely purchased using illegal income — either from the Nadiyen family themselves or on behalf of other people.

Apartment №298. Pharmacist from Ternopil Region — Olena Petliovana

Apartment No. 298 in Taryan Towers, with an area of 61.6 square meters and an estimated price between $270,000 and $460,000, was purchased on January 22, 2025, by 35-year-old Olena Petliovana.

As of 2019, she was registered in the village of Vilkhivchyk in the Ternopil region. According to Getcontact, her phone number is saved under names like “Lena Pharmacy,” “Olena Klyzub Pharmacy,” and “Lena Farmakso,” suggesting she works at Farmakso LLC — a pharmaceutical company owned and managed by Serhiy Klyzub. Most likely, Olena is a regular pharmacist or pharmacy assistant. She doesn’t own any shares in a business, according to official records.

The same goes for her husband, Zinoviy Petliovanyi — he has no registered business or private enterprise. Neither do her parents. Her father, Valeriy Danilov, is only listed as a co-founder of a fishing NGO called “Association of Fishermen of Nadzbruchchia.”

So, Olena Petliovana clearly belongs on the list of individuals who should be investigated by anti-corruption authorities — to find out where she got the money to buy a luxury apartment in Taryan Towers worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This looks like yet another case of laundering money with no clear legal origin. The only question is: whose money did this pharmacist from Ternopil region help to legalize?

Apartment №373. A 28-Year-Old Draft Dodger Illia Brekhin Gifted a Luxury Apartment to His 80-Year-Old Grandpa

28-year-old Illia Brekhin, originally from Dnipro, appears to have lived and studied in London at Goldsmiths, University of London, according to his social media. On September 15, 2020, he bought not one, but two apartments in Taryan Towers — apartment No. 373 with 119 square meters, and apartment No. 380 with 118.7 square meters. Each of these would cost at least ₴17.6 million (around $460,000) without renovation.

Then, on September 2, 2024, Illia Brekhin gave both apartments to his grandfather, Mykola Lysak, as a gift. According to BlackBox OSINT, both gift agreements listed the value of each apartment as only ₴2 million (around $49,000) — nearly 9 times lower than their actual market price.

These documents were signed not by Brekhin himself, but by Iryna Porokh, who acted under a power of attorney issued in Warsaw by Polish notary Dorota Kossiewska. This confirms that Illia Brekhin is currently abroad during wartime in Ukraine.

So who is this young man casually giving his grandfather tens of millions of hryvnias worth of property? According to public records, Brekhin owns 35% of PJSC “Dnipro Terminal,” where his grandfather Mykola Lysak is also a co-founder. However, the company’s financial report for 2020 shows that it was operating at a loss.

The most recent financial report from PJSC "Dnipro Terminal" was submitted back in 2020
The most recent financial report from PJSC “Dnipro Terminal” was submitted back in 2020

So clearly, the Dnipro-based business isn’t the source of funds that could cover two apartments in the most expensive residential complex in Kyiv. Open data reveals that Illia Brekhin and his mother, Nataliia Brekhina, are shareholders in a Polish company called Novik, registered in Warsaw on September 5, 2022. The company specializes in wholesale vehicle trade, and Illia serves as its CEO.

Nataliia Brekhina also owns 20% of a Ukrainian company called Natalie LLC, which operates in the freight transport sector. However, as of 2024, the company is running at a loss — though in previous years, it made small profits ranging from ₴350,000 to ₴2.7 million.

Since 2023, the operations of “Natali” LLC, owned by Illia Brekhin’s mother, have been gradually winding down. Screenshot: Opendata.ua

The young man’s grandfather, 80-year-old Mykola Lysak, who became the proud owner of two apartments in Taryan Towers, holds a stake not only in the unprofitable Dnipro Terminal PJSC, but also owns 19.4% of Halychyna Lasunka LLC, an ice cream manufacturing company. This is the only business in the family with significant profits — from ₴8 million in 2020 to ₴44.3 million in 2024.

But even if we assume that this 80-year-old grandfather from the Dnipropetrovsk region actually receives substantial dividends from Halychyna Lasunka LLC, the question remains: why didn’t he purchase the two apartments in Taryan Towers directly?Instead, they were first bought by his grandson, who later gifted them to him — lowering the official value by at least 9 times. It’s clear this was done to avoid paying full taxes — taxes that are especially vital for a country fighting for its survival against russian aggression.

Apartment №323. How Crypto Trader Andrii Trushkovskyi Used a Pensioner from Donetsk Region to Hide His Illegal Profits from the State

Another apartment owner at Taryan Towers who raises serious questions is 76-year-old pensioner Svitlana Hubar, registered in the town of Dobropillia, Donetsk region. On January 27, 2025, she became the official owner of Apartment #323, which is 82.1 square meters in size and worth at least $300,000 — and up to $615,000 if fully renovated.

However, according to BlackBox OSINT, in the sale agreement, the seller was Iryna Trushkovska, and the buyer was Svitlana Hubar. But she was represented under power of attorney by her grandson Dmytro Mustafayev. The price listed in the agreement was just $107,740 — about three times lower than the market value (assuming it was an unfurnished unit). Once again, this appears to be a classic case of undervaluing the transaction — likely to minimize taxes.

Even at the reduced price, Svitlana Hubar has no legal income or business ownership that would explain such a purchase. Neither does her husband, 77-year-old pensioner Ivan Hubar.

Their daughter, 53-year-old Anzhela Mustafayeva, likely works as a school cleaner in Dobropillia. Her mobile number is saved in others’ phones (via GetContact) under names like “Anzhela 7 Shk,” “Anzhela Cleaner,” and “Anzhela Janitor.” Her husband, Server Mustafayev, is also not listed as a business owner or individual entrepreneur in any official registry.

Their sons — 24-year-old Oleksandr Mustafayev and 30-year-old Dmytro Mustafayev — are both registered as sole proprietors. Oleksandr works in computer programming since 2021, and Dmytro provides information services since 2020. Neither shows signs of major financial success.

In short, this is an ordinary family from Donetsk region — not the type that can afford luxury real estate worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. For them, a Taryan Towers apartment is more of a dream than a reality.

So the only potential lead is the seller of the apartment.

65-year-old Iryna Trushkovska, a resident of Kyiv, is listed in GetContact as an accountant. Since 2018, she has been the head of a civic group called “Sokil Gardening Society.” Comments she made on Facebook suggest that, as of 2017, she wasn’t employed and was receiving caregiver assistance for her mother.

Iryna Trushkovska, who sold the apartment in Taryan Towers, was recently unemployed as she was caring for her sick mother

Before selling the apartment to Svitlana Hubar, Iryna Trushkovska had received it as a gift from her younger son, Andrii Trushkovskyi, who lives in Los Angeles, USA. In the gift agreement, the value of the Taryan Towers apartment was listed at just $9,800 (around 400,000 UAH) — about 30 times less than its real market value.

Andrii Trushkovskyi, 35, is a co-founder and shareholder (49%) of a film and TV production company called Red Panda Production, established in 2017. However, the company has never filed financial reports. He’s also listed as a co-founder and signatory of an advertising agency called Maincream, which reported losses in 2020 and hasn’t filed reports since. These companies appear to be inactive or fake.

So where did he get the money to buy an apartment in one of the most expensive buildings in Ukraine? Judging by his Instagram, Trushkovskyi is involved in crypto trading — just like another figure from our past investigations, Vladyslav Myroshnychenko from Kharkiv. Trushkovskyi lives a luxurious lifestyle: he drives expensive cars, travels abroad, wears designer brands and luxury watches. His younger brother, Timur Trushkovskyi, also lives in the US and does crypto trading and training — though he’s not officially linked to any registered businesses.

Neither Andrii nor his brother nor their parents have legitimate, legal income large enough to afford a Taryan Towers apartment. The companies linked to Andrii generate no profits and seem to exist only on paper. Most likely, he made large profits from crypto trading and used the apartment purchase to legalize those funds.

But why did Trushkovskyi gift the apartment to his mother in May 2024, declaring its value as only $9,800, and then she sold it in January 2025 for $107,000 to a pensioner from a front-line town in Donetsk region?

Probably because in May 2024, the Economic Security Bureau searched an apartment in Taryan Towers belonging to blogger and Traffik Devils CEO Oleksandr Slobozhenko, who was under investigation for hiding crypto profits from taxes. Fearing he might be next, Trushkovskyi likely rushed to transfer the property to his mother. Later, the apartment was sold again — this time to a pensioner, likely to further hide its real ownership.

The cryptotrator Andriy Trushkovsky does not have official income for buying an apartment at Taryan Towers, so he has made it for a false person. Graphic by BlackBox OSINT

So, Taryan Towers has effectively become a hub for laundering large sums of illegal money. With apartment prices reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars, it’s the perfect place to clean massive amounts of cash in a single transaction. And if someone wants to save on taxes — all they need to do is “gift” or sell the property to a front person at a price several times lower than market value.

Let’s just hope that the Economic Security Bureau pays attention not only to the apartment of Oleksandr Slobozhenko, but also to all the other suspicious cases uncovered in our investigation.
